  • First Day of School

I have been waiting for this day for over 2 years, and as I suspected, it was much harder for me than it was for her.  I dropped her off in the morning, kissed her goodbye, and handed her off.  She went willingly and was quickly picked up by Gina who put her in her lap.  A story was being read to the children, and her attention was grabbed immediately.  I went off to my classroom, feeling pretty good.  After a few minutes, I decided to take a peek at her through the window and I saw her frantically searching the room with her eyes for me and I could see her mouthing the words “Mommy”.  I had to turn away from the window.  It just broke my heart…  she had never showed any signs of separation anxiety from me at all…ever. I sneaked into her room half an hour later and to my relief, she was fine, playing trucks with some other boys.  Later, Gina told me that she cried one single tear, and after some comforting, she was fine.  Throughout the day, I checked in on her, never letting her see me.  At 1 o’clock I went to check on her again, and this is what I found:

The teachers told me she started falling asleep when they were changing her diaper!!  They told me she was a big hit, and because she’s so small, all the kids wanted to “take care” of her.  I am such a proud mommy!!
